BPR part2

The process flow diagram helps to understand how business is conducted. It also assists in the analyses for the causes for business problems. Other steps in BPR are then applied to reengineer or change and enhance the processes to eliminate the problems, resulting in significant business performance improvement.Goods and materials must be moved from one point to other in order to meet customer demands. The new reengineered process can solve many problems such as below:
  • Delayed shipments
  • Missing shipments
  • Shipment damage and huge claims for payment for damage
  • Constant customer complains
  • Loss of customers
  • Not being able invoice and collect money from the customers on time
  • Cash flow problems
  • Internal discipline problems
  • Lack of qualified people.
  • Lack of training
  • Poor management practice

By adapting to new changes the company can improve their productivity and improve the efficiency of the business.BPR is a powerful tool that any business can use to significantly improve business performance. Process mapping is a critical part of the BPR methodology. Experts from within or outside the organization are available to perform BPR.

Meeting

We conducted a meeting just now with the group members.We sat down and managed to finish up the reports and the presentation slides.Since the presentation is on this Thursday we have discussed among the members. The task have been divided equally among the members and each of us has the own task to do.

We will have a another meeting tomorrow to finalise everithing..byee..

the new reenfgineered process for marketing and sales



•Before this PERNEC’s customer have to do the Quotation and ordering process where this involve more staffs to handle the process.
•This may take more time whereby all the process such as ordering, selecting the products and quotation can be done through a system whereby customers can use this system to make an order and this consume less time and less manpower.
•This system can be use as a tool to promote their products whereby the marketing currently are less and customer are not getting enough information.

We have develop a new process for the marketing and sales.

Where Template
1. A user only can use payphone that available at the roadside.
2. A user have to go to the payphone to make calls .
3. A user have to find another payphone if the payphone is not in good condition.

Challenges
1.Not all available payphone can be used.
2.Limited payphone available.
3.Waste of time.

Ideas
1.Increased the amount of payphone.
2.Decreased the radius from one payphone to another.

1.A user must insert coins/cards in order to make calls.
2.A user must know the recipient number in order to make calls .

1.Run out of coins.

1. What is your name and your position on PERNEC?
My name is Noorzana Ghazali and i am holding the position as Operation & Technical Support Manager.

2. Can we know what the business background of PERNEC is?

3. Is there any additional business run by PERNEC?
Yes. For example, wifi, prepaid calling card.

4. How many workers are working here and how is their knowledge in computer?
About 1400workers. Most or 90% of them have knowlegde in computer. Most of them are technical people, done for exchange, payphones and all. They have basic in excel, powerpoint and such.

5. Does PERNEC apply Information Technology in the business?
Yes. IT is apply in intranet, email, internet, website and suchs. We also have e- comm like procurement system and Team synthesis as PM system.

6. How does IT help the business operation?
IT help us by do our purchasing and procurement using systems. We have accounting system for financial and project management system. IT also help us by monitoring the phone using a system.

7. Does PERNEC have budget for IT application?
Yes. On hardware, software, maintenance and all.

8. What are the business processes for customer if they want to make an order or business process?
Usually by direct negotiation, tender, networking connection.

9. How about business process for other organization/ suppliers to make an order or purchase?

10. What are the marketing strategies used by PERNEC?
Usually by promoting the products through our website, booths at some functions or events like career fair. If there's a new product, we usually call the press to promote it.

11. Which company are the competitors and how does PERNEC compete with other organizational?
Basically our competitors are those with switch recruitment. Others like Alcatel, Ericsson, Time Reach and more.

12. In what area PERNEC want to enhance in future?
We would like to increase our revenue, create new product, reduce operation cost by control overtime, purchases and suchs.

13. What are the problems or obstacles that normally face by PERNEC?
Technology - the changes of technology. In future, everybody have cell phones and there are few messengers in internet where people can communicate with free charges. People won't use public phone anymore.

14. How does PERNEC overcome this problem?
By reducing the operation cost or by developing a vandalisme project as educate school student about vandalisme. Make the payphone attractive for people to use. And the maintanence.

15. How does PERNEC manage all those data and information?
We have one department that manage all the data and information here in PERNEC.

16. What databases are these organizational are using?
In IT view, we have sales database, financial database, and all. Software that we use are SQL, Linux and such.

17. Does PERNEC give importance to IT application or software?
Yes.

18. What is the software currently used?
Vista, Linux, SQL, Server- base, TRIM (ontext document)

Last Friday we went to interview the person incharge in PERNEC.The interviewed session goes smoothly without any problem.We managed to get information for the projects. It is really a new experience for all of us to interview and learnt more about real organization's business process.
